- Clinical Effects of Aminodeoxykanamycin on the Infectious Disease of Children

- Abstract
- Aminodeoxykanamycin (Kanendomycin®) is a new antibiotic obtained from a variant strain of streptomyces kanamyceticus. It is known potent antibiotics against both gram positive and negative organism. Clinical trials of aminodeoxykanamycin on the infectious disease of children have been carried out at the Department of Pediatrics, National Medical Center and the results were obtained as follows. 1.The Aminodeoxykanamycin was administered intramuscularily to 37 cases of infected infant and children, consisting of pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sepsis, pyelonephritis, empyema, meningitis, osteomyelitis, bum and skin infection. 2.The dose of aminodeoxykanamycin used was 10~20mg/kg daily. 3.In this clinical trials, the over-alljeffective rate of aminodeoxykanamycin was 76%.
4.The aminodeoxykanamycin was found to be effective to both gram positive and negative organism, especially to staphylococcus aureus and E. coli. 5.No side reaction or toxicity was developed during administration of aminodeoxykanamycin.
