Studies on the Menarcheal Age of School Girls in Daegu & Neighbouring Town

Abstract
Whave investigated 1, 016 school girls who have began menstration, in the Daegu & neighbouring town of Kyungpuk province, through an inquing as to the date of menarche and menstrual cycle. The results were as follows 1.The average menarcheal age of school girls in urban & rural areas was 14. 05 ±0. 98 years and menarcheal age by regional groups showed that menarche occured at 13. 92 ±0. 93 years in urban area and at 14.23±1. 05 years in rural area. It showed that menarcheal age in urban area was earlier than those in rural area. 2.According to menarche occurence by the present age, area got hat 12.72土 0.95 years at 13 years, 14.77±0.97 years, in urban area, and 12.64±1. 0 years at 13 years, 16.05±0.75 years at 19 years in rural area, and so, the tendency is that menarche occured earlier as time advances. 3.Questions about the existence or non-exisetnce of menarche by the present age, 41.86% have had menarche among 13 year old school girls and 99.18% at 17 years old, and so, none that have not had it over 18 year old. 4. Monthly frequency of menarche occurence showed that summer peak in August, in the largest number, December, the second, January, the third, and so on. 5. Cyclic change after menarche showed that irregular menstrual cyclic pattern, in most number, was 529 cases, and 28 days and 30 days pattern were 204 cases and 255 cases respectively.
