- Abstract
- A case of congenital lobar emphysema is reported. The patient is a 9-day female infant com plained of mild dyspnea on admission. Since 3rd hosp. day, she had suffered from severe dyspnea and cyanosis with mackedly intercostal retraction and indrawing of the left suprasternal, left supraclavicular and lower margin of left
thorax. Chest X-ray revealed atelectasis of the Lt. upper lobe and extenssive emphysematous changes in the Lt. lower lobe. The heart, mediastinum and trachea were markedly shifted to the right. The pathological examination disclosed the outer layer of left main bronchus was surrounded with tumor mass which invaded inner surface of canal and functioned as check value. The microscopic finding of tumor was a hemangiomatous hamartoma.
