- Chronic Myelocytic Leukemia in Childhood

- Abstract
- Five cases of chronic myelocytic leukemia out of 96 cases of leukemia in childhood for 10 years, during January 1957 May 1967 are presented. Incidence of chronic myelocytic leukemia among 96 cases of all leukemias was 5.3% and sex ratio was male : female=2:3 with age range between 7 months~8 years of age. Chief complaints on admission were abdominal distention in 4 patients and epistaxis in 1 patient. Hepatosplenomegaly was present in all of 5 patients and lymphadenopathy present only in 2. patients. All of 5 patients had some degree of anemia. Leucocyte counts were over 100,000 only in 1 patient and below 100,000 in 4 patients. Platelet counts were below 100, 000 in 3 patients, 100, 000~200,000 in 1 patient and 300, 000~400,000 in 1 patient. All of them were treated with Myleran followed by some degree of remission. A brief review of literatures was made.
