- A Clinical Study of Infectious Hepatitis

- Abstract
- We have observed 259 cases of Infectious Hepatitis during the last 8 years from Aug. 1966 to Jul. 1974, who were hospitalized at the pediatric department of the YonSei University, College of Medicine. In 1966 we reported a clinical study of 107 cases of infectious hepatitis which, was publisized in 1968. This is an additional clinical report to this study. We have obtained following results. 1)The incidental ratio to total in-patients was 2.4%. The sex incidence was more common in male ranged 2 : 1. 2) The age incidence was highest in 3 to 8 years (69%) and in Autumn it showed highest occurence. 3)The common complaints were Anorexia (67.2%), Dark urine (58.3%), Abdominal pain (56.8%), General malaise C44.8%), Hepatomegaly (90%), Jaundice (70%) and AbdominaL
distension (36.3%), in it’s order of frequency. 4)In most cases the total blood cell counts were normal and liver function tests were abnormal: S.G.P.T. increased in 87.6%, S.G.O.T. in 82.1% and total bilirubin in 78.4% of cases.
5)The 254 cases in 259 cases were improved, but 3 cases developed hepatic coma and rest 2 cases were not followed.
