- Abstract
- Thirty five cases of intraabdominal tumors were reviewed, which were admitted to Chonuam University Hospital during the periods of 5 years from Jan. 1970 to Sept. 1974. 1) Of total cases observed, 27 cases(77%) were retroperitoneal tumors and 8 cases intraperitoneal ones.2)The highest incidence was Wilms’ tumor (11 cases,31.3%) and the next was neuroblastoma (7 cases, 20%). 3)The peak age incidence was between 4 to 6 years of age (12 cases) and 25 cases(71%) were under 6 years of age. Almost all Wilms’ tumor(9 cases, 82%) and all of neuroblastoma were found to occur under 6 years of age. In sex incidence, male and female ratie 1.5:1.
4)The incidence of malignant tumor was 67.5% (23 cases). 5)The other tumor were gastrointestinal polyposis, teratoma and hydronephrosis(3 cases in each), lymphosarcoma and adrenal tumor(2 cases in each) and hepatoblastoma, gastric cyst, pancreatic cyst, and ureterocele respectivaly. 6)The tumors of urogenital origin were 15 cases〔44%), adrenals 8 cases C23%)» gastrointestinal tract 6 cases, ovaries 2 cases, and sympathetics, omentum, liver and pancreas one respectively. 7)The cardinal symptoms and signs were abdominal masses (83%) and pain (40%). 8)Of the 26 retroperitonial tumors, the left site involvement was 15 cases, as compared to
9cases of right site and the remaining one was bilateral involvement. There were no significant differences in Wilms’ tumor and neuroblastoma respectively. 9)In 3 of 7 neuroblastomas, distant metastasis were common locatins being bone and liver. Only one of Wilms’ tumor had lung metastasis. 10)Of 3 cases of gastrointestinal polyposis, one showed Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, the other jnultiple adenomatous polyps localized in cecum and the 3rd one solitary polyp in rectum. 11)In teratoma, 2 were benign ovarian dermoid cysts and the other was intraperitoneal solid teratoma with cystic change. 12)Malignant adrenal tumors were virilizing tumor with intersexuality. 13)Lmyphosarcomas were developed in ileum and one of them was associated with intussu
sception. 14) Pancreatic cyst was proved to be a pseudocyst and gastric cyst to be a duplication cyst.
