A Case of Congenital Cleft Sternum

Abstract
Bifid sternum is a congenital midline malformation resulting from disturbance of normal fusion and the defects allows a herniation of the pericardium covered only by the subcutaneous tissue and skin. A case of congenital cleft sternum in 8 month old male infant was presented. There was marked paradoxical motion with respiration in the area of the defect and a long ligamented tissue noted on the abdomen from the xiphoid process to the umbilicus. We also reviewed related literature briefly.
