- Abstract
- A case of Hemolytic-Uremic Syndrome was presented. It was characterized by acute renal failure, hemolytic anemia and thrombocytopenia. The patient was 3 years and 2 months old girl who was admitted to our hospital on November 12th, 1974 with chief complaints of lethargy and jaundice. Burr cells and fragmented red cells with moderate to marked anisocytosis were seen on the peripheral blood smear. Thrombocytopenia, oliguria and elevated Blood Urea Nitrogen concentration were noted. Bleeding time, coagulation time, prothrombin time and partial thromboplastin time were normal. Fibrinogen level was within normal limits. This patient was
discharged on the 26th hospital day with marked improvement of her clinical and laboratory findings. The review of literature was made briefly.
