- Abstract
- A scoring system for gestational age, based on 10 neurologic and 11 external criteria, has been,
applied to 200 newborn infants who have born at the obstetric ward of National Medical Center,
Seoul, Korea.
Total score gave a good correlation with gestational age. The correlation coefficient for the total,
rcore against gestation was 0. 62.
The regression formula for the total score(x) against gestation(y) is: y=0.18x+29. 999.
The method give consistent results within the first 3 days and is equally reliable in the first 24
hours of life. This scoring system is more objective and reproducible than trying to guess gestational
age on the presence or absence of in dividual signs.
