- Abstract
- This experiment was designed to study the problem whether diuretic activity appears in the affected
rabbit sera. Korean domestic white male rabbits weighing 1. 8 kg were used for this work. They
were well hydrated orally by gavaging with 100 cc of 2 percent NaCL solution three times at one
hour interval to maintain positive water balance through each study. Urine was collected through a
indwelling cathether while the rabbits was placed on the holder. Sera was obtained once daily from
the rabbits of which ureter was ligated unilaterally or bilaterally.
When the urine volume through the indwelling catheter exceeded 3 ml per 5 min. after hydration, hydrated rabbits were given intravenously 1 ml of above serum and observed changes of urine
volume per 5 min. for over 120 min.
The results were summerized as follows:
Cl) No change of urine volume was noted in the hydrated rabbits after the injection of 1. 0 ml
of serum o£ normal and hydrated rabbits.
(2) Sera obtained from the rabbits 24 hour, 2 and 3 day after ligation of both ureter, were given
intravenously to hydrated rabbits. Slight increase of urine volume was noted in the group of rabbits
given 2 day serum.
(3) Sera obtained from the rabbits 24 hour, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,15,20,25 and 30 day after
ligation of one side ureter, were given intravenously to normal rabbits which were loaded with 2
percent NaCl 3 times per Os. An increase of urine volume was demonstrated in the groups of rabbits
given 2 day to 10 except 9 day sera, but no remarkable change of urine volume was observed in
the other groups of rabbits.
Judging from the results of these experiments, diuretic substances appeared in the rabbit sera
induced by ligation of unilateral ureter.
