- Abstract
- Two cases of omphalocele were presented.
Case (I ) was transferred to Ewha Womans hospital 2 hours after birth with omphalocele
measuring 6X8cm in diameter. The birth, weight was 2.4 kg.
The contents(stomach, small intestine) of sac were easily reduced
and primary repair was performed. He had an uneventful postoperative course and was discharged
on the 22 th postoperative day. The another case (I) was admitted at 3 hours o£ age with a
large intact omphalocele measuring 9X10 cm in diameter. Birth weight was 3.25 kg. The contents,
(liver, stomach, small intestine) of sac was reduced with perfoming primary repair.
He expired on the 3 rd postoperative day probably due to septicemia (body temperature: 38°9’C〉
The literature on the omphalocele was briefly reviewed.
