- Clinical Studies on Cefamezin in Pediatric Field

- Abstract
- Clinical studies on Cefamezin, a new Cephalosporin C derivative,
were performed with the following results.
1. Cefamezin was intramuscularly administered in a daily dose of 40〜100 mg/kg to 50 children with various
infections for 3 to 25 days. The therapeutic results were excellent in 37 patients, good
in 7, fair in 5 and no response in 1. The effectiveness rate was 88%
2. No noticeable side effects were observed except frequent loose bowel movement in 3 cases and
mild skin rash in 1 case.
3. Cefamezin was tried in various infections of prematurity and neonatal infant, and could be
appraised as the first drug of choice in neonatal bacterial infections.
