- 5 Cases of Idiopathic Dilatation of the Common Bile Duct

- Abstract
- Authors would like to submit here with some literal study and report on 5 cases of Idiopathic
dilatation of the common bile duct they had experienced among the Pediatric inpatients at Taegu
Dong San Presbyterian Hospital.
1. Patients of all 5 cases were under 10 years old. The proportion to males to females was 2 : 3.
2. Of all cases, only one case (case III) was accompanied with symptoms of the classic triad,
which are abdominal mass, jaundice and upper abdominal pain.
3. Each five cases was diagnosed definitely after exploratory laparatomy.
4. Choledochoduodenostomy was performed in all 5 cases and no complication was seen in the
cases I, I, and W but an acute ascending cholecystitis was developed in the case of JU after 5
months of operation. Patient was admitted again to the hospital to receive treatment but was
completely recovered within 6 days and able to discharge. In the case V, atelectasis was developed
after the operation which created critical problem but the patient was completely recovered and
able to discharge after 26 days of opration.
