Abstract
Hemagglut-ination-inhibiting antibody (H-I antibody) titers of Rubella were measured by the
method
of Halonen and neutralization antibody (N-T antibody) titers of Poliomyelitis (Type 1) were measured by the survey of cytopathic effect to the cells of monkey kidney, with sera of 12 healthy mothers and 17 normal newborn infants who were admitted to Kyungpook University Hospital during period from May through November 1971. In H-I antibody titers of Rubella, ten of 17 newborns(58.8%) and seven of 12 mothers(58.3%) had undetectable levels (<1 : 10). Every antibody titers of newborns (41.2%) having detectable levels (1 : 10 or above) were 1 : 20 in five newborns, 1 : 40 in two and that of mothers(41.7%) having detectable levels were 1 : 20 in three mothers, 1 : 40 in two. H-I antibody titers of newborn infants were almost the same to the levels of their mothers. In N-T antibody titers of Poliomyelitis (Type 1), only one of 17 newborns had undetectable level. Every antibody titers of newborns having detectable levels were 1 : 10 in seven newborns, 1 : 20 in one, 1 : 40 in seven, 1 : 80 in one and that of mothers having detectable levels were 1 : 10 in five mothers, 1 : 20 in four, 1 : 40 in three. N-T antibcdy titers of newborn infants were almost the same to the levels of their mothers.
