- A Study on the Bacteriological Survey of the Omphalitis of Newborn Infants

- Abstract
- For about 2 months from September 10 th to November 15th, 1970, the bacteriological cultures in
48 cases of omphalitis of the newborn infants in Pusan National University Hospital, Pediatric
department of the II-sin Hospital, and Pusan Children Charity Hospital were carried out. The results
obtained are summarized as follows:
1. There were no relationship between isolated organisms, places of delivery, and the characters of
discharges.
2. All cases of culture were positive and 2 to 4 species of organisms were isolated.
3. 11 species were identified and the most common organisms isolated were Staphylococcus (31. 1%)
and E. coli (30. 3%).
