- Abstract
- From our study of sera of 30 parturient women and their normal full-term newborn infants, the following observations are noted. 1.A positive C-reactive protein titer was found in 20% pregnant women. All of the cord blood specimen were negative for this reaction. There would appear to be no transferral of C-reactive protein across the placental membrane. 2.The incidence of positive reactors increased soon after birth with 27.7% of the normal newborns having positive reactions during the first week o£ life. The intensity of the positive reaction in the
majority was only up to 1 mm. 3.The result of this study were discussed and compared with previously published reports.
