Erythorcyte Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency

Abstract

Screening test for the red cell glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency was performed on 1, 027 Korean male and on 9 cases of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and 2 cases of hemolytic anemia. No case of G-6-PD deficiency has been found in this study. According to this result G-6-PD ' deficiency is not considered to be a significant factor associated with neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in Korea while it was reported as an important factor in Chinese.
