- The Clinical Observation of Tuberculous Meningitis in Children

- Abstract
- Eighty nine cases of children with tuberculous meningitis were treated at Chon ju Presbyterian Medical Center
from Jan. 1966 to Dec. 1971.
The results were as follow:
1) Tuberculous meningitis comprises 47.8%(89 patients) of the total meningitis cases of 186 patients,
who were treated in the same period of the time. ;
2) Age & sex incidence;
76. 4% were under the age of 6, the greatest number of these being between the age of 1 & 2.
3) Seasonal incidence;
68. 5% were observed during summer and spring.
4) In 24.1% of the 89 tuberculous meningitis cases, the source of tuberculous infection was found
among their family.
5) PPD skin test was positive in 38%.
6) Lungs were clear in 40. 4% and miliary tuberculosis were found in 13. 5% of chest X-rays.
7) The recovery without sequel occurred in 65. 2%.
