- A Clinical Study on the 178 cases of the Tuberculous Meningitis in Korean Children

- Abstract
- A study was carried out on 178 patients with tuberculous meningitis under treatment at the pediatric department of Wonju Union Christian Hospital from Jan.l. 1960 to March 31. 1969. The following results were obtained.
1)Age and sex incidence: 71% were under the age of 6 year, the greatest number of these being between the age of 3 and 6 year. Male to female ratio was 2:1 2) Seasonal incidence: 61. 7% were observed during spring and summer.
3)In 20% of the 178 cases, we found the source of infection among family members. 4)O-T skin test showed positive and negative in,: the same numbers. 5)Lungs were clear in 63% and miliary tuberculosis in 14% on chest X-ray. 6)The mortality rate was higher in steroid used group than not-used group. Average mortality was 11. 2%.
