Leukemia in Children and Radiological Studies

Abstract
Leukemia in childhood in Korea has been investigated by several authors. However none of the attempt of radiological studies with conjunction to the clinical course. Clinically and hematologically proven cases of leukemia in 76 were observed since September 1959 to September 1969 for 10 years. Among them male were 50 and female were 26 about 1:1.02 ratio. And age distribution was highest among the 5-9 years group of 35.1%, others 0-4 years of 31. 2% and 10-15 years was 32. 6%. Among chief complaints fever was 36 cases of highest and next to the pallor and hemorrahgic tendencies of each 28. Bone pain was 15 cases but no bone pain of 16 cases have positive X-ray findings. Among positive X-ray findings skeletal changes were prime of 53 cases of 69.7%, among them long bone changes were 57. 8%. Chest infiltration was 32. 8% and included bronchopneumonia in this score. Chronic myelogenous leukemia in childrood could observe Ph-1 chromosome abnormality, therefore X-ray observation made for this aspect. Ordinary leukemic changes of bone and lung were observed.
