- A Case of Congenital Ginant Hydronephrosis

- Abstract
- Hydronephrosis characterized by dilatation of the renal pelvis and calyces, and atrophy of renal parenchyma secondary to stenosis or obstruction of urinary outflow tract. Yang has defined that giant hydronephrosis contained much amount of fluid such as 400~500 cc in the infant and 500~700 cc from 1 to 5 years of age. There are few literatures about giant hydronephrosis even through adult case in Korea. We have found recently a congenital giant hydronephrosis of left kindney which deveroped in 1 year and 11 months old Korean boy. It was removed surgically and the amount of fluid was 550 cc. It is :the first reported case of congenital giant hydronephrosis of childhood in Korea.
