- Abstract
- Three eases of congenital syphilitic nephrotic syndrome are presented. This is the first report, to our knowledge, in Korea. It is our opinion that the diagnosis of congenital syphilitic nephrotic syndrome is highly probable in case I and HI. Although there were no edema and hypopreteinemia in case I, we believe that the congenital syphilis involved the kindey according to other laboratory findings. Pretreatment level of serum cholesterol was in normal ranges in case M, however, it increased above normal ranges in spite of clinical remission and reduction in qualitative urinary protein with increased serum protein level after treatment for about one month, and it is the problem of further study for us to detect the causes of hypercholesterolemia in this case. In All of our cases presented here were relatively good clinical courses observed after penicillin therapy.
