- Abstract
- A case of congenital lung cyst is reported.
The patient was 14 days old new born male who complained of marked dyspnea. On chest X-ray
examination, large area of increased radiance in entire left lung field with displacement of the
mediastinum, was shown, suggesting air containing cyst.
Closed drainage failed to sustained improvement of symptoms.
At 19th neonatal day, cyst was removed surgically, and confirmed as air containing cyst with
simple and pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelial linings.
One and a half months later, pneumonectomy was perfomed due to rupture of small cysts of the
left lung with similar nature.
A brief review of literatures was made.
