- Plasma and Blood Volumes in Malnourished Children

- Abstract
- Plasma and blood, volume were measured using Evans blue in severely malnourished children and normal orphans, ranging from 12 months to 36 months of age. Mean age of malnourished children was 6 months older than that of the control group, while the weight and weight/height ratio of the malnourished were smaller but height was taller.
Mean values of plasma volumes of malnourished and control group were 359.8土47.06 ml, 349土60.1 ml absolutely and 53±8.3 ml/kg, 50+12 ml/kg respectively. Mean blood volumes were 472土63.3 ml, 507土78.9 ml absolutely and 69土 12.5 ml/kg, 73±15. 8ml/kg respectively.
