- Abstract
- The Swedish Save the Children Federation performed B.C.G. vaccination to all children under 5 years of age in Pusan area from May 1966 to Aug. 1967, and obtained the following results as complication. 1)Complication was seen in 254 children among the total 116,986 vaccinated cases showing the rate of 0.21%. 2)In the direct vaccination group, without tuberculin test, the incidence was 0. 54%, and in the indirect group, with tuberculin test, 0. 04% 3)Regional lymphadenitis was most common (92.5%), and secondary bacterial infection of the
vaccination site was 7.3%. There was also a case of skin eruption. 4)Complication was seen mostly within 2 to 3 months after vaccination, and 10 cases in 6 months. 5)Twenty-one cases were put to bacterial culture from infected site resulting in 2 cases of positive A. F.B.. Chest mass x-rays were checked in 42 cases, among which 3 cases showed hilar lymphadenitis.
