- Abstract
- 1.Hydrocortisone levels in cerebrospinal fluid and urine have been determined in normal children and in encephalitis patients before and after the administration of hydrocortisone or prednisolone. 2.A significant but trace amount of hydrocortisone was detected in normal cerebrospinal fluid. Encephalitis caused a threefold increase in the hydrocortisone level of cerebrospinal fluid, which was further increased by hydrocortisone administration. 3.Urinary excretion of hydrocortisone was not influenced by encephalitis, but increased when either hydrocortisone or prednisolone was administered.
