- Clinical Observation on the Japanese B. Encephalitis of Bulbar Type in 1967 in Seoul, Korea

- Abstract
- 64 cases of Japanese B. Encephalis of bulbar1 type in Seoul Choong Boo City Hospital in summer, 1967, were observed on the clinical manifestations, prognosis, residuals, and hemaglutinin-inhibition test The results are as follows;1)The most cases were infants except 4 cases. 2)The average mortality rate was 46.8% and it was peak in the ages between 6 and 10. 3)The most of cases had dysphagia and dyspnea. The muscle rigidity was shown 80.9% (57 cases) and it is less than the nechrigidity shown in 95.3% (61 cases) 4)Various residuals including ptyalism, dysphagia and dyspnea, were observed in the cases who were admitted for more than 2 weeks or 2 months.
5)Hamag lutinin-inhibition tests were performed on 26 cases with convalescent serum. The average postive rate was 57.6% (15 cases), and the average negativerate was 42.3% (11 cases)
