- Abstract
- The Authors observed 107 cases of the diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis was taken by the Dept,
of Ped in this University Hospital during a 3 period between Sept., 1964 and Sept.-15, 1967.
According to the kinds of causes, a clinical observation was taken of 50 cases who tended to
increase infectious hepatitis. The results of this observation are as follows:
1) It was found that there is a trend for children to be sick during summer (mainly increase June
through August), and that the appearance of infectious hepatitis were 0.45% in 1967 and 0.43% in 1966.
2) It was observed that 70% of cases were male out of 50 cases. That is to say that the ratio between
male and female was three vs one. There were not much differences among age groups.
The children of three and four of age were at the highest rate, 40%.
3) In terms of clinical symptoms and hematological view points, It was observed that there were
24 cases (48%) of abdominal distension, 20 cases (40%) of fever 17 cases (34%) of jaundice and 15 cases (30 %)
of general malaise in order. IN 42 cases except for 8 cases, hepatomegaly (over two-finger
brace) was found which was considered as one of the unusual cases. This may also help finding early diagnosis.
4) In biochemical view point, the increase of G.O.T. tends to appear in the 1st week of disease,
showing 46%. This phenomenon is unusual in the early stage of hepatitis, and hepos, together with
hepatomegaly, to early diagnosis. The serum bilirubin shows a slight increase in 3—10 mg% out
of 62%, and especially the increase of direct bilirubin level in the cases o£ over 90%. The increase
of Alkaline phostase was 80%, and it appeared as a type of observation Hepatitis
5) In the 17 cases out of those who are claimed as jaundice by the guardias of patients, The
jaundice were grossly seen, and its bilirubin level was 3-10 mg% but in light of measurement level
as a criterion, 31 cases (62%) were recognized as jaundice. This means that jaundice observed in a
relatively low level of 3 mg%. In sum, there are more cases of icteric rather than non-icteric forms
among the observed cases.
6) Its seems that Vit B complex, including soft diet, vitamin (B1), B12, B6, ect, was more effective
to anorexia and G-I trouble.
7) In the process and prognosis, the clinical symptoms, and hepatic dysfunction were seem to be
normalized in about a month after the appearence of the disease Especially, the prognosis was fine
without complication and sequellae. The reccurrence, complication, chronic and cirrhotic change were
appeared in much fewer cases of children than in the adult ones.
The hormon therapy was shown to be effective to the cases of prolonged hepatomegaly and hepaptitis
and the toxic effect or bad results on hormon was hot confirmed.
