- Paroxysmal Tachycardia in Children

- Abstract
- Three cases of paroxysmal tachycardia in children which have been observed in past five years were
presented and reviewed. AII of them were male and were brought to the hospital with symptoms of
heart failure. The intervals between the estimated onset of the attack and the time when they were
brought to the hospital were at least 4, 5. and 9 days respectively. The chief complaints by their parents
were ‘ indigestion", tachypnea, puffy . face and vomiting. AII of them had hepatomegaly and
cardiomegaly. One of them had Wolff-Parkinson.White syndrome. Two patients had recurrence. In
each attack they responded to digitalization. Reflex stimulation of the vagus nerve was attempted in
six occasions and was successful only in one occasion.
