- The Prevalence of Allergic Diseases among Korean children

- Abstract
- The present study is a prevalence survey of major allergic diseases such as asthma, eczema, and urticaria.
The survey was conducted among 962 adults and 1050 children of families who visited our out-patient department. The allergic informations were directly obtained in conversation with the parent when the family history was taken.
The results are as follows: 1.The prevalence of major allergic diseases is 16.4% among adults and 23.5% among children. 2.Among children, urticaria is the most common allergy with 13.3%; and eczema 9.1%, and asthma and asthmatic bronchitis 3.2% respectively. 3.Among allergic children we find their allergic family history in 72. 8% of cases.
