| Abstract |
Purpose
: Applying the present growth curve(established in 1985) in practice, we noticed some difference. And so, we performed this study to know that is it necessary to revise the present standard data in Korea.
Methods
: We checked the height and weight of 208 children of one primary school in Seoul. And also, we measured arm circumference and triceps thickness of 493 children with fiverglass tape and caliper by one person, and calculated the arm muscle and fat area. And these data were compared with standard values.
Results
: The mean height is increased up to 2.5-9.6cm, the mean weight increased up to 0.5-12.7kg, the mean arm circumference increased up to 1-20mm, and the mean triceps thickness is also increased up to 0.6-5.2mm.
Comparing our data with the present standard data, no great difference was noticed in the arm muscle area, but the mean arm fat area is increased in all age groups.
Conclusion
: Comparing our results with the present standard data established in 1985, it is necessary to revise the present standard data. |
