Abstract |
In a prospective investigation of 21 chi Idem 3 years of age or more with Mycoplasma pneumoniae
pneumonia, we analyzed the diagnostic efficacy of High Density Composite Particles
Agglutinin(HDDA) test comparing with cold agglutinin tests and clinical findings.
The results obtained were as followed.
1) Among 24 total cases, the number of cases showing positive reaction to HDPA and to cold
agglutination test were 17 and 14 cases, respectively.
2) The peak incidence of age was between 5 to 11 years of age (53.3%).
The meam age was 7.6±3.1 years.
The sex ratio of male to female was 1.1:1.
3) The most common clinical symptoms were cough, fever, sputum in decreasing order and the
most common physical signs were rale and decreased breathing sound.
4) There was no significant difference in peripheral leukocyte count and ESR in between HDPA
(+) and HDPA(—) group.
5) On the chest X-ray findings, the most common type of pneumonia was segmental pneumonia.
6) The mean duration of admission was 9.1 days in both of HDPA (+) and HDPA (—) groups
7) Among the 17 HDPA (+) cases, the number of positive cases of cold agglutinin test were 11
(65%), and among 7 HDPA (一) cases, that of negative ones were 4 (75%).
8) When HDPA test and cold agglutinin test were done during the 6 to 10 days of symtom duration,
two tests were significantly related.
9) The HDPA titer showed moderate correlation with cold agglutinin titer (r=0.535)(p<0.01). |
