Abstract |
Thirty-three cases of endodermal sinus tumor were reviewed. They were diagnosed at Seoul
National University Hospital over the last 9 years. Sixteen were testicular, 12 were sacrococcygeal
and the others were mediastinal, vaginal, ovarian, retrovesical and tongue endodermal sinus tumor.
Endodermal sinus tumor of the tongue was the first reported case in the world. Serum 公-fetoprotein
of 32 cases was elevated at diagnosis and well correlated with clinical course.
In testicular endodermal sinus tumor 9 were treated by inguinal orchiectomy: 3 were relapse free
for more than 2 years, but 2 cases were relapsed. The other 7 cases were treated by inguinal
orchiectomy and cheomtherapy with or without radiotherapy: 3 of them were relapse free for more
than 2 years after completion of chemotherapy but 2 were relapsed. Further study with larger series
is required to evaluate the optimal treatment of testicular endodermal sinus tumor. |
