Mass electrocardiographic examination was performed on 5,066 children of elementary school in
Taegu from Nov. 1. 1985 to Apr. 30. 1986. Among them 30 children had abnormal ECG. We could
investigate further on 26 children.
The results were as following;
The incidence of ECG abnormality was 0.59% (male 0.57%, female 0.62%) initially, on follow-up
examination, only 0.39% showed persistent abnormal ECG.
The kinds of ECG abnormality were prolonged PR interval(ll children), Right ventricular hypertrophy(5 children),
Left ventricular hypertrophy(5 children), Right bundle branch block(5 children),
flattened T wave (3 children), and Junctional rhythm(2 children).
Five children were found to have congenital heart disease; two atrial septal defect, one ventricular
