| Abstract |
|
We analyzed 15 infants and children who were admitted and diagnosed as Reye syndrome.
at Gu Mi Soon Chun Hyang Hospital during the period of 9 months from Feb. 1981 to Oct.
1981 The results were as follows.
1) The cases of Reye syndrome were 15 patients (1. 6%) among 579 hospitaHzed patients
and 4 patients (26.7%) died of Reye syndrome.
2) It affected male more than female in the ratio of 2 : 1
3) 11 cases among the 15 cases were belong to the age below 9 month and 4 cases were
belong to the age group of 1 to 4 years.
4) The prominant preceding illness were URI, acute gastroenteritis, bronchiolitis, German.
measles.
5) The main clinical manifestations were vomiting(66. 7%) , coughing(46.7%) , semicomatous
mental state (13.3%) , drowsymental state (26. 7%).
6) Blood ammonia level over 100 units were noted 12 cases of the 15 cases. |
