In Korea, diphtheria has still been outbroken throughout the year sporadically or endemicall; even in urban as well as rural area. For surveying of immune state on diptheria, Schick .test was performed on total of 940 healthy infants and young children who came to well baby clinic in Seoul National University Hospital. The results were summerized as follows 1.There were no-Schick positive cases among non-vaccinated group under 4 months of age 2.In cases non vaccinated between 5 months and 1 year o£ age, the positive negative rate of Schick were similar, but over 1 year of age the positive rate was quite high 3.Schick positive was mostly converted to negative within 1 month by one shot of D.P.T. vaccine. 4.All cases except 2 remained Schick negative even in 2 to 3 yrs after D.P.T. vaccination. 1 5.There were no positive cases in control group except 1. 6.The degree of Schick reaction seemed to be comparatively strong in older age and showed erythem only without induration and remained darkly discolorated for a few weeks or months. 7.The appearence of erythem was mostly developed within 48 hrs, but could not observed 72 hrs. after Schick test.
