Abstract |
An eleven year old Korean female infant was admitted to the Seoul Natioeal University Hospital on September
10. 1962, because of the asymmetry of the body. The infant was normal full term spontaneous delivery. Prenatal history was not contributory except her mother had a episode of colicky lower abdominal pain of one day duration after taking unknown toxic herbmedicine for treatment of leucorrhea at nine months of pregnancy. Family history was not contributory. Shortly after birth, her mother noticed that the right side of the baby’s body was noticeably larger than the left. The mother stated that the physical development of the baby seemed to be delayed comparing others. The patient was somewhat undernourished and underdeveloped. She can not sit up or stand up without support. The right half of her body was strikingly larger than the left including head, face and extremities. The rest of the physical examination revealed normal. Laboratory examination revealed no abnormal result except moderate positive result of old tuberculin test and hypochromic anemia with relative lymphocytosis. On roentgemogran long bones of right upper and lower extremities demonstrated marked enlargement in the size such as humerus, ulna, radius, femur and tibia and the layers of the right extremities also appeared to be larger and wider than those of the left. On elctroencephalogran, there was somewhat higher volotage of 8- wave on the left parieto-temporal-left
occipital lead. |
