Abstract |
Neonatal adrenal hemorrhage is not uncommon due to its relative large size and vascularity, thus making it vulnerable to traumatic and asphyxial injuries. It뭩 etiology is unknown, but postulated etiologies include maternal diabetes, obstetric trauma, asphyxia, thrombocytopenia and coagulation defect. Clinical manifestations ate those of a paplable mass in the affected flank, anemia and jaundice. Hypoglycemia, hypotension and hypovolemia may be present. While most neonatal adrenal hemorrhage remain intracapsular with spontaneous resoultion, accurate diagnosis is extremely important to eliminate unnecessary surgical explorations and even removal of a normal kindney. We experienced two cases of neonatal adrenal hemorrhage. We report those cases with brief review of related literature. |
