Abstract
The changes of skin-test reactivities, total and specific serum IgE levels, and peripheral eosinophil counts were observed periodically in 20 bronchial asthmatics. The immunotherapy was performed with the Specific desensitization Vaccine(Bencard), i. e. mixture of multiple allergens specific for each patients, and scheduled reach the maintenance doses within 6 months. The skin-test reactivity index, i. e. the ratio of the average diameter of the wheal raised by intradermal injection of allergen mixture to that of 0.1% histamine, showed no uniform changes during the period. The total serum IgE levels were measured by PRIST before immunotherapy, after 1 year’s and 18 months immunotherapy. They showed decreasing tendency through the period. All the specific IgE levels measured by RAST after 18 months of therapy showed either equal or reduced levels compared with the initial levels. The peripheral eosinophil counts checks after 18 months showed no noticeable changes.
