Abstract |
A diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis(CLT) was made in 90 children & adolescents according to Fisher’s criteria. The age of the group ranged between 4 years & 16 years.
On the basis of serum T4, T3 & TSH, three groups of patients were distinguished at the time of
diagnosis.: euthyroid group (n=49), hyperthyroid group (n=7), hypothyroid group (n=34), where three
subgroups were classified; compensated hypothyroidism (n=17), moderate hypothyroidism (n=13),
severe hypothyroidism (n = 4)
Since CLT may be asymptomatic, or may present with goiter & euthyroid state, or with altered
thyroid function, it might be concerned because of possible permanent hypothyroidism.
