Abstract
Fifty-five cases of Reye’s syndrome, diagnosed during the period of October 1 st, 1980-September 31st, 1984 at the Pediatric of Seoul Adventist Hospital, were studied on the clinical features and laboratory finding. The following results were obtained; 1)There was no much indifference in annual incidence but highest incidence was showed September by 9 cases (16.4%). 2)The sex ratio of male to female was 28 cases: 27 cases almost same level. 3)There was under 2 years 49 cases(89.1%) among 55 cases in age distribution, almost overall cases. 4)The prodromal illness was upper respiratory infection that was 30 cases among 5& cases distributing over the half cases, the other illness were gastroenteritis, chicken pox,measles, bronchiolitis. 5)The main clinical symptoms were disturbed consciousness (98.2%), vomiting(87.3%), fever(61.8%), convulsion(54.5%) and the others were cough(40%), hepatomegaly(50.9%) diarrhea(27.3%) Jaundiced. 8%). 6)According to Lovejoy' s classification, at the time of admission, the serious symptoms above stage JU were 23 cases(41.8%) among 55 cases. The higher the stage, the higher the mortality. 7)The higher the level of serum Ammonia, LDH, GOT, the higher the mortality. 8)The mortality rate was 36.4% by 19 cases among 55 cases.
