Abstract
The studies were carried out to analyze the emergency patient visited to the emergency room of the National Medical Center under the 15 years of during the three-year period from Jan., 1980 to Dec., 1982. The results were obtained as below. 1)During the 3-year periods, the total number of emergency patients under the 15 years of age was 4,212. 2)Forty three percents of the total patient were admitted. 3) Deaths before arrival to emergency room were 20 cases and deaths during managements at emergency room were 18 cases. 4)The total number of the male patients was 2,624 and that of the female, 1,588. 5)The most popular time of visiting to emergency room was between noon and 6 : 00 PM. 6)Monthly distribution of visits revealed higher incidence in Aug., Sep., and Oct. and lower incidence in Jan. and Feb. 7)Weekly distribution of visit revealed higher incidence on Sat. and Sunday relatively. 8)Distribution of age showed peak incidence was below 2 years of age (46.0%). 9)The number of patients received urgent management was 949 and the content was as beldw: O2 inhalation (23.0%), Dressing (17.2%), Initial hydration (16.8%), Primary suture and closure(14.6%), Splint and Cast(12,0%). 10) Distribution of diseases and injury in according to the Korean Standard Disease classification was as below in order: Injury and poisoning(29.0%), Respiratory disease(15.1%), Infectious disease (13.4%), Ill defined symptoms and signs (7.6%), Digestive disease (6.7%), Mental and nervous system disorder(5.4%). 11)Distribution of patient' s address was as below: Seoul (74.5%), Rural(19.6%). 12)Most frequent primary diagnosis of emergency cases were as below: Injury & accidents, gastroenteritis, URI, pneumonia, diarrhea.
