Abstract |
Cerebral pa ragonimiasis is widely distributed in the Far East, particularly in Korea, Japan,
Formosa, and the Philippines. It is characterized by seizure, headache, visual disturbance,
mental deterioration, and motor and sensory disorders.
We experienced a case of cerebral paragonimiasis in a 13 year-old female patient who was
admitted because of Jacksonian-type epileptic fits and headache for 15 days and was diagnosed
by P.W. skin test, eosinophilic count, plain skull x-rays, carotid angiogram, electroencepha-
logram, and C-T scan. Her clinical symptoms were improved with Bithionol and phenobarbital
therapy. A brief review of related literature is also presented.
