Abstract |
Clinical observations was made on 191 cases of children with purpura who admitted to the
pediatric department of St. Mary’s Hospital College from Jan, 1971 to Dec, 1980. Boys were:
116 cases and girls were 75 cases . The results were as follows.
1. Allergic purpura was the most common cause of purpura, followed by leukemia, idiopa-thic thrombocytopanic purpura, aplastic anemia in order of decreasing frequency. 2. The highest incidence appeared between the ages of 3-9 years and male (124 cases) was affected more frequently than female (67 cases) 3.Anemia, fever, nasal bleeding, hepatomegaly were main clinical features in thrombocy topenic purpura and abdominal pain, arthralgia, occult blood were in nonthromocytopenic purpura. 4. In aplastic anemia, leukemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, anemia has occured in 100%, 82%, 60%, respectively. Leukocytosis was moted in leukemia, sepsis,meningococcal meningitis; Leukopendia in most of aplastic anemia. The platelets count were usually below 100,00/mm3 in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, leukemia, aplastic anemia. 5. There were prolonged bleeding time,normal coagulation, time and positive Rumpel-Leede test in most of the idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and normal bleeding time, normal coagulation time and negative Rumpel-Leede test in most of allergic purpura.
