Abstract |
We observed 75 cases of severe anemia who were admitted to Department. Of Pediatrics of Maryknoll hospital from Jan. 1974 to Dec. 1976. The following results were obtained. 1) 925 cases(40.3%) of the total admitted patients(2,298 cases) had mild degree of anemia(below 10.5gm/dl) and 75 cases(3.3%) showed severe anemia (below 7.0gm/dl). 2) Male to female ratio was 1.5 to 1. 3) The highest incidence was found in the under 2 years of age(42.7%). The second most common age was between 3 years and 4 years. 4) The common causes of severe anemia were leukemia, infection, aplastic anemia, malnutrition, and iron def-iciency anemia. Appreximately half of them were leukemia and infection. |
