Abstract |
The contents of chloride, protein and sugar in the
cerebrospinal fluid of 74 normal Korean children rang-
ing in age from one month to fifteen years have been
examined, and some observations were made on the
changes in their contents as related to age, and also on
the relation between chloride and protein contents in
the cerebrospinal fluid of the same individual.
The mean levels of each component were : chloride,
713.0 土 37.02mg%, protein, 47.0 土 18.41mg%,
and sugar, 52.8土 12.88mg%, respectively.
The chloride levels were found to show a tendency to
increase as ages progress although the increases were
not so highly significant statistically. In contrast, the
levels of both protein and sugar showed the highly
significant decreases as ages increase.
The disputed reciprocal relationships between chloride
and protein contents in the cerebrospinal fluid were not
proved.
