Abstract
Blood plasma concentration of Chloramphenicol was studied with single intramuscular injection of Chloramphenicol 100 mg/kg in dose to 5 cases of Typhoid fever and 5 cases of Purulent meningitis. Followings were the results. Blood level reached to maximal concentration one to two hours after the administration, maintained the level until four to five hours, and then showed progressive decrease. After 24 hours it disappeared completely from the plasma. It was shown from the above data that intramuscular injection of Chloramphenicol should be repeated with interval of four to six hours for maintenance of effective therapeutic blood concentration.
