| Abstract |
|
A case of a cyanotic, 7 years old boy who had no cardiac, pulmorrary, or neurological disease is described.
He was admitted to Ped. ward, Han-11 Hosp, on May 2, 1969 because of generalized cyanosis, headache and joint pain. The cyanosis was remarkable on lips, cheeks, fingers, toes and oral mucosa. This cyanosis proved to be due to the presence in the blood of an abnormal pigment, methemoglobin which was measured by Evelyn and Malloy’s Technic. Review of methemoglobinemia is disussed. The occurrence of abnormal pigments in the blood
should be considered in any cyanotic infants and children with no respiratory or cardiac findings.
