Neonatal hydrometrocolopos is a rare congenital anomaly, which is thought to be caused by both vaginal obstruction such as imperforate hymen, transverse vaginal septum or vaginal atresia and sufficient maternal estrogenic stimulation to provoke secretion from the glands in the neonatal reproductive tract.
