Abstract |
To determine the incidence of cardiac arrhythmias of the school children, we have performed heart
screening by the questionare and EKG and physical examination from September 1984 to October
1987 in Seoul.
1) The incidence of the cardiac arrhythmias was 1.27%.
2) There were 449 cases of heart diseases detected. Among these heart diseases there were congeni-
tal heart diseases in 82 cases (0.31%), acquired heart diseases in 11 cases (0.04%) and arrhythmias in
342 cases (1.27%).
3) There were 211 cases in male (1.49%) and 131 cases in female (1.03%). There was no significant
difference in the incidence of arrhythmias between their sexes and grades.
4) Of the cardiac arrhythmias, there were first degree AV block in 80 cases, VPB in 56 cases, PAC
in 54 cases, complete RBBB in 48 cases, abnormal P axis in 37 cases, Wolff-Parkinson-White
syndrome in 21 cases, ventricular tachycardia in 1 case, supraventricular tachycardia in 5 cases and
sinus node dysfunction including sinus exit block in 3 cases. |
